Job Duties:
- Provides information and resources about educational optionsand graduate school academic requirements; assists with identifyingand assessing interests, skills, and values to match appropriatefield of study/career options and refers students to appropriateinstitutional resources
- Participates in the campus-wide advising community, graduatecommunity, etc. providing input to leadership regarding thedevelopment of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programsoffered by the school/college
- Provides in-depth advising services promoting graduate studentsuccess, retention, and degree completion. Advises graduatestudents on programs, curriculum, graduate education, anduniversity policies, processes, and procedures
- Maintains compliance with graduate program(s), school/college,and university requirements and technology systems related toadmissions, assessment, academic degree progress/requirements, andprogram review
- Serves as the primary resource for graduate applicants ,currentstudents, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of an academicprogram
- Monitors degree progress and assists students in navigatingresources and systems throughout the student lifecycle frommatriculation to degree completion
- Maintains confidentiality and accurate student records andprocesses and responds to academic inquiries according toestablished institutional and Family Educational Rights and PrivacyAct (FERPA) policies
- Provides guidance and/or develops policy and procedurerecommendations and/or changes related to graduate programs

Responsibilities
- Advise, coach, and guide admitted Graduate Business studentsthrough the exploration of Lubar's array of courses leading to agraduate degree.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of graduate programs andrequirements as well as the benefit of completing a program at theLubar College of Business.
- Collaborate with the Graduate Student Services at the LubarCollege of Business to develop and host events and conduct outreachto admitted students.
- Lead the development and execution of the annual retention plan to determine what initiatives, processes, and events will be heldto ensure high graduation rates.
- Work directly with faculty on program changes and admissiondecisions.
- Using the campus CRM data, college data, and qualitative datafrom surveys and focus groups, assess recruitment initiatives andtheir effect on the yield of business students and refinerecruitment plans based on findings.
- Participates in the campus-wide advising community, graduatecommunity, etc. providing input to leadership regarding thedevelopment of advising, recruitment, and co/curricular programsoffered by the school/college.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Mentoring and Engagement
- Design and implement student engagement initiatives that fostera sense of belonging and community among Graduate Businessstudents.
- Develop mentoring programming that connects alumni and industryprofessionals to current Graduate business students.
- Plan and coordinate orientation programs, workshops, networkingevents, and student development activities.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partnersto create meaningful engagement opportunities for students.
- Develop communication strategies to keep students informedabout academic deadlines, campus resources, and professionaldevelopment events.
- Build relationships with prospective, current and graduatingstudents to strengthen retention, persistence, and overall studentsatisfaction.
- Track engagement metrics and contribute to student success andretention initiatives through data-informed decision-making.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- At least one (1) year of professional academic advisingexperience in higher education working directly withstudents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree or higher
- Experience advising graduate students
- 3+ years of advising experience at UWM or a similarinstitution
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, as evidencedby written application materials and interviews (whereapplicable)
- Experience building positive relationships with diversepopulations
- Prior experience working with transfer, international and/orgraduate students
- Experience coordinating student programming and events
Target Salary Range:
Starting pay: $55,000
(Final salary offer will be determined based on qualifications andexperience)
