Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks talented individuals with a Bachelor's in physics, nuclear engineering, or related field to join a multidisciplinary team of physicists, engineers, and scientists in the Baltimore‑Washington area. You will design, build, test, and evaluate scientific instrumentation for national defense challenges and develop software for test equipment.

You will participate in field studies, run Monte Carlo simulations to model radiation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physics, nuclear engineering, or related technical field with a strong academic record.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for field tests and meetings with government partners.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and evaluate scientific instrumentation addressing national defense, terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction concerns.
  • Develop software to run test equipment and algorithms to detect radiological material.
  • Participate in field studies to guide development of new technology and evaluate performance.
  • Build and run Monte Carlo simulations to model radiation transport.
