Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD invites graduates in physics or nuclear engineering to join a multidisciplinary team tackling high-impact national security challenges. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in physics, nuclear engineering, or a related technical field, with a strong academic record.
  • Proficient in MATLAB, C/C++, Java, or Python.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and teamwork experience.
  • Able to travel occasionally for field tests and meetings with government partners.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret, ultimately Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and evaluate scientific instrumentation for national defense and security.
  • Develop software to run test equipment and algorithms to detect radiological material.
  • Participate in field studies to guide new technology development and evaluate performance.
  • Build and run Monte Carlo simulations to model radiation transport.
