Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking individuals to contribute to applied chemistry and physics projects. You will join a multidisciplinary team to develop sensors, detectors, and analytical tools for defense and national security applications.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in chemistry or chemical engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel for partner meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; teamwork experience.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meetings with government partners.
  • Eligibility to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and Secret clearance eventually; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and evaluate instrumentation for national defense/CS.
  • Synthesize and evaluate molecules, polymers and biomolecules for defense-related research.
  • Perform hands-on lab work to develop solutions in applied chemistry and physics.
