Job summary

HBK Engineering, LLC, headquartered in Chicago, IL, seeks an Associate Graduate Engineer—an entry-level role designing systems for overhead and subsurface utilities. You will tackle electrical, structural, civil, and construction challenges, gaining exposure across the full design lifecycle from initiation through closeout.

You'll work with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS, plus Office365, while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering or related field.
• EIT certification (preferred).
• 0–2 years of relevant experience.
• US driver’s license and US work authorization.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams.
• Strong Office365 skills and 2D CAD experience (AutoCAD or similar).
• Familiar with remote communication software.
• Able to quickly come up to speed on in-process projects.
• Experience collaborating with teams on large projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Adaptable in dynamic team environments.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering systems per specs for overhead and subsurface utility projects.
• Provide innovative solutions for electrical, structural, civil challenges.
• Own all phases of the design lifecycle from initiation to closeout.
• Prepare detailed drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and asset management platforms.
• Analyze topo surveys, utility atlas data, field sketches, client records, and datasheets.
• Manage time and schedule to meet milestones.
• Conduct field walkdowns with stakeholders and partners.
• Travel typically under 25%.
