Job summary

The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) at American University seeks a graduate student to provide administrative and multimedia support, enhancing branding and outreach. The role combines content creation with essential admin tasks, reporting to the Associate Director for Education & Support Programs.

The position emphasizes student growth, collaboration across teams, and implementing multimedia strategies while supporting events and programs. Eligible AU graduate students preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital campaigns.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS.

Job Description:
Summary:

The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) is seeking a graduatestudent to provide administrative and multimedia support thatenhances the center’s branding, marketing, communications, andoverall visibility. This position combines marketing and creatingcontent development with essential administrative functions toensure smooth operations and impactful outreach. This positionreports to the Associate Director for Education & SupportPrograms. The Center for Student Belonging (CSB) fosters a diverse,respectful, and inclusive learning, and working environment. CSBsupports student growth through special events, specializededucational programs, Intergroup Dialogues, and resources forstudents.

Essential Functions:
  • 1.) Administrative Support
    • Support office coverage, event logistics, includingregistration, materials, and follow-up communications Coordinatescheduling, meetings, and calendar management for CSB programs andstaff.
    • Assist with email correspondence, document preparation, andresearch.
    • Maintain organized digital files for departmentalprojects.
  • 2.) Multimedia and Marketing Support
    • Develop and implement strategies for multimedia contentcreation.
    • Design and edit creative concepts for multimedia projects usingvarious design software.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure contentaligns with brand messaging and marketing goals.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely andhigh-quality deliverables.
    • Stay current with emerging technologies and designtrends.
    • Provide technical support for multimedia equipment andsoftware.
    • Edit video and audio recordings for use on CSB’s website andeducational programs.
    • Develop analytical reports on media strategies and social mediaperformance.
    • Perform general office tasks and other duties asassigned.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
  • Part-time.
  • Up to 20 hours per week.
  • Occasional evening and weekend availability forprograms/events.
  • In-person role.
Salary Range:
  • $19.40 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at American Universityfor the upcoming or current academic year and maintain enrollmentfor the duration of your employment.
  • Ability to understand and navigate complex topics related toindividual differences, including physical and cognitive abilities,cultural background, economic circumstances, personal beliefs, andlife experiences.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creating digitalcampaigns.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and basicHTML/CSS.
  • Previous experience in an administrative or office supportrole.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in multimedia and design tools (e.g., Canva, AdobeCreative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro) and strongunderstanding of design principles.
  • Experience managing social media platforms and creatingengaging digital content to support branding andcommunications.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability toprioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for workingacross teams and delivering clear messaging.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies andsoftware.
