Job Description:

Summary:

The Assistant for Communications and Project Management Supportwill play a pivotal role in advancing the Office of InclusiveExcellence’s mission. This position involves partnering closelywith the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence to supportcommunication projects, including drafting engaging content,coordinating digital outreach, and analyzing communication metricsto enhance engagement and reach. The assistant will also providerobust project management support for office initiatives, leadingthe planning, organization, and execution of Vice President forInclusive Excellence (VPIE) specific events and programs. Keyresponsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders,developing project timelines, managing resources, and evaluatingoutcomes to maximize the impact of communications and events.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment toadvancing inclusive excellence through effective, innovative, andprofessional communication strategies, as well as effective projectmanagement practices. This role requires creativity, adaptability,and the ability to lead initiatives from inception to successfulcompletion.

Essential Functions:

  • Drafting engaging content.
  • Coordinating digital outreach.
  • Analyzing communication metrics to enhance engagement andreach.
  • Providing robust project management support for officeinitiatives, leading the planning, organization, and execution ofVice President for Inclusive Excellence (VPIE) specific events andprograms.

  • Leadership: Shows initiative in leading and facilitatingVPIE-specific events and programs, motivating others, and ensuringsuccessful outcomes aligned with the office’s goals for inclusiveexcellence.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.
  • 15 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $19.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at AmericanUniversity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage calendars, scheduling, andoffice records efficiently.
  • Experience or strong interest in supporting office events,communications, and initiatives.
  • Familiarity with office software and digital tools for documentmanagement and communication.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Graduate enrollment status is preferred.

  • Majors of consideration: Anthropology, Education, Interculturaland International Communication, Marketing, Producing Film,Television, and Video, Strategic Communication, Film and MediaArts.
  • Dates of employment: August 17, 2026 - May 7, 2027.
