Job summary

Halff is seeking recent civil engineering graduates for a Graduate Civil Engineer position in our Brownsville, TX office. You will assist in designing and producing construction plans for municipal projects such as roads, drainage systems, water and wastewater pipelines, and parks.

You will work under a PE mentor who will guide your growth and development. The role requires a degree in civil engineering, FE or intent to pass, Texas EIT or eligibility to obtain within 2 years, and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent.
• 0-3 years of experience in Local Infrastructure/Public Works or Land Development.
• Passed the FE exam or able to pass within 6 months of hire.
• Have a current Texas EIT license or the ability to obtain within 2 years of employment.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
• Knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment involved in the construction or repair of civil engineering related improvements.
• Able to balance multiple and frequently conflicting objectives and make good decisions.
• Technical experience in computer-assisted design (CAD), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design, modeling, data recording, and analyzation related software.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a talented engineering team to solve design challenges and produce construction plans for local infrastructure projects.
• Use design software and drafting tools to display calculations and design layouts to create construction plans for infrastructure improvements.
• Draft reports and present plans to diverse audiences, translating engineering information into accessible concepts.
• Estimates construction costs and quantities, perform site visits, and review contractor submittals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
