Job summary

Middlebury College’s Center for Advising and Career Services (CACS) seeks a student employee to support professional development programming and services. The role is compensated at the MIIS student wage scale: $16.95 per hour, with duties spanning inquiries, events, newsletters, and Handshake updates.

Responsibilities include welcoming students, assisting advisors, promoting events, and contributing to career readiness initiatives. On-campus hours and confidentiality are required.

Qualifications

• Well-organized and able to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication, editing, writing and event promotions.
• Experience coordinating among diverse groups and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming environment for students, staff, and employer reps.
• Respond to inquiries via phone and email in a professional and efficient manner.
• Support advisors on projects contributing to student success, including employer relations and career management classes.
• Update Handshake: post jobs, publish events, resources, announcements, and troubleshoot login issues.
• Assist in newsletters and event planning with CACS advisors.
• Promote and coordinate CACS events, flyer creation, digital signs, room reservations.
• Potential to train as a peer career advisor for resume writing and interview guidance.
• Research alumni employment outcomes and career trends.
• Provide general support including data entry, database management, social media, etc.
• Document workflow and help cross-train new graduate assistants.
