Job Title: Graduate Academic Advisor

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, or a related academic field
  • Two years of experience in advising or related academic functions within higher education

Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous advising experience at the graduate level

Responsibilities
  1. Advise graduate students on course selection, registration, and progression, including approval of plans of work, reduced course load requests, CPT, and OPT.
  2. Assist thesis and PhD students with committee requirements, qualifying exams, candidacy applications, and dissertation-related activities.
  3. Manage admissions for the PhD program, including application processing and review coordination.
  4. Support students in meeting graduation requirements and preparing for future goals.
  5. Advise on academic integrity issues and support at-risk students, exploring academic options and resources.
  6. Maintain advising and student records confidentially, and track enrollment data.
  7. Disseminate graduate student communications, such as defense announcements, newsletters, and academic deadlines.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
