Job summary

Claiborne Hauling, LLC, based in Knoxville, TN, seeks a Grading Assistant Superintendent to lead grading and earthwork operations on site development projects across East Tennessee. You will supervise crews, manage equipment, ensure schedules, and maintain safety and quality standards on active sites.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience in cut/fill, compaction, drainage, and trench work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of grading, excavating, or site work experience.
• 2+ years leading or running a crew as a foreman or similar.
• Strong knowledge of earthwork methods, compaction, drainage, and site prep.
• Ability to read grading plans, site plans, and survey stakes.
• Ability to operate or evaluate dozers, excavators, loaders, and rollers.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Comfort with basic computer work (email, Excel, digital logs).

Responsibilities

• Lead field crews on grading, earthwork, and site development projects.
• Coordinate crews and equipment, enforce safety, and manage schedules.
• Plan equipment needs and ensure on-site availability.
• Review plans, perform takeoffs, and assist in bid preparation.
• Maintain permits, licenses, certifications, and documentation.
• Support project tracking, billing, and performance reporting.
