Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and assist with instructional activities across grade levels. The IA will aid in planning, preparing materials, and reinforcing skills for diverse learners.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with Title I expectations allowing for six semester hours in childhood education or two years of related experience. CPI certification may be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours of coursework in childhood education or two years of experience in a childhood setting for Title I schools.
• CPI certification may be required; CPI training provided by WCPSS.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support and assists teachers in instructional activities.
• Aids in planning, organizing, evaluating activities, and preparing materials.
• Supports the school program and maintains student safety and well-being.
• Works with individual students or groups as directed by teachers.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains professionalism and confidentiality as required by FERPA.
• May perform vision and hearing screenings and enter results in the student information system.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
