Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant (IA) to support classroom teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high schools. The IA will assist in instructional activities, reinforce skills, and work with diverse learner needs to improve student outcomes.

The role involves collaboration with teachers, data-driven practices, and maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment daily.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• For Title I schools, ESSA requirements apply: six semester hours in childhood education or two years of experience in a childhood setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to teachers and students.
• Assists in planning, organizing, and preparing materials for lessons.
• Supports in maintaining a safe, encouraging classroom environment.
• Collaborates with teachers and administrators to reinforce skills.
• Participates in district staff development and professional growth.
• Maintains confidentiality of student information (FERPA).
• Demonstrates professionalism and effective communication with staff, students, and families.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
