Job summary

Springfield Public Schools in Western Massachusetts seeks an elementary educator to join our district. You will plan lessons aligned to district expectations, create a conducive learning environment, and maintain accurate records while addressing student needs with support from district specialists.

The role requires the appropriate Massachusetts license with a commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration within a diverse community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license is required or equivalent.
• Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license is preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Guides the learning process toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives to students for lessons and projects.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation as required by the contract.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district policy.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities at all times.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license

Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license (preferred)
