Job summary

Jefferson County is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage the time and leave software system, maintain pay rules, and assist managers with payroll reporting needs. The role supports bi-weekly payroll processing, serves as a subject matter expert for Workday upgrades, and may cover for the Payroll Supervisor during absences.

The position is full-time, hybrid with a mix of remote and in-office work during onboarding and as needed.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate.
• Experience: Three (3) years of work-related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Time and Leave Software System and act as backup for the County's system updates.
• Lead payroll activities for most pay cycles and coordinate with IT, payroll staff and manager.
• Provide high-level payroll customer service to employees and interface with retirement providers.
• Process annual holidays, stretch pay, and shift-change maintenance; support software upgrades.
