Job summary

Jefferson County’s Finance department is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join the team. This role chairs the maintenance of the County's time and leave software, updates schedules, and handles pay rules and payroll reporting, with bi-weekly processing and potential for acting as Payroll Supervisor in their absence.

The position is full-time, 40 hours weekly, hybrid with remote work and in-office work during onboarding and as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificate.
• Three years of work-related payroll experience.
• Equivalent mix of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Time and Leave Software System and update employee schedules.
• Lead bi-weekly payroll processing with IT, payroll staff and manager.
• Provide customer service and respond to employee payroll questions.
• Assist with future Workday upgrades and reporting needs.
• Support payroll operations and act as backup for Payroll Supervisor.
