General Astronautics in El Segundo, CA seeks a Head of Government Business Development to lead our government portfolio as we scale our orbital robotic fleet. You will own the pipeline, identify opportunities with DoD, NASA, and other federal agencies, and drive proposals from first engagement through award.

You will work with founders and engineering to translate technical capabilities into funded programs, manage teaming strategies, and navigate SBIR/STTR, OTAs, BAAs, and RFPs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in government BD, capture, or federal acquisition in aerospace/defense.
• Experience leading government pursuits from engagement to award.
• Strong understanding of defense procurement and federal funding pathways.
• Ability to connect tech capabilities to customer requirements and funded programs.
• Strong writing and communication with proposals alongside technical teams.
• Experience with government customers, program offices, contracting officers.
• Ability to own complex pursuits and manage multiple opportunities and deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Lead government business development across the DoD, NASA, and other federal agencies.
• Build relationships with government customers, program offices, contracting officers, and partners.
• Identify customer needs and shape opportunities that align with our capabilities.
• Own the government pipeline, including qualification, capture strategy, bid/no-bid, and forecasting.
• Lead proposals and responses from initial engagement through submission, negotiation, and award.
• Collaborate with engineering to translate capabilities into proposals, SOWs, milestones and budgets.
• Pursue opportunities through SBIR/STTR, OTAs, BAAs, RFPs and other federal pathways.
• Develop teaming strategies with defense primes, neo-primes, and aerospace companies.
• Build templates, tracking systems, and processes to manage multiple pursuits.
