Job summary

Potomac Shores Golf Club in Dumfries, Virginia, is seeking a Golf Shop Attendant to deliver friendly, efficient service in a busy hospitality environment.

You will assist golf professionals, handle golfer check-in and fee collection, manage tee sheets, and help with merchandise, billing, and daily shop upkeep. This entry-level role offers exposure to the golf industry, advancement opportunities, and benefits participation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college coursework preferred.
• Preferred golf course or retail experience.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head/Assistant Golf Professionals in daily golf ops.
• Greet golfers, assist check-in, and collect fees; manage play.
• Support POS adjustments for green fees, merchandise, billing.
• Promote club golf activities and maintain shop appearance.
• Maintain records for storage and member lockers; assist tournaments.
• Monitor scores, report handicaps, and process billing.
• Follow opening/closing procedures; ensure safety and professionalism.

Job description

Potomac Shores Golf Club is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Golf Shop Attendant. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service to the clubs managed by Troon.

Pay Range: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Golf Professional and Assistant Golf Professionals on the daily management of golf operations
• Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play; reconciles daily tee sheets
• Assist in administering all point of sales application revisions and needs as it applies to green fee sales, merchandise sales, and member/guest billing.
• Promotes all club golf activities.
• Assist with maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-stocked golf shop.
• Assist with maintaining proper records and billing of storage and lockers for membership.
• Assist golf professionals during tournaments and weekly games.
• Monitors all members’ scores, reports handicapping to USGA and bills members.
• Follows established opening and closing procedures.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Work Experience and Education Requirements

• Prefer previous golf course and/or retail experience
• High School Diploma
• Prefer some College or College Degree, or equivalent experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Traits

• Must be motivated to thrive in the golf industry
• Experienced in written and oral business communication
• Experienced in computer user including Microsoft Word, Excel, & Publisher. Proficient in other applications, i.e., email, internet, and database
• Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills
• Self-motivated with desire to promote and market
• Service and customer focused attitude
• Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community
