Job summary

Sierra Space, headquartered in Colorado, is seeking an entry-level Guidance, Navigation & Controls Engineer I. You will support the development and analysis of spacecraft GNC systems, working on control, orbital mechanics, and simulations under senior guidance.

Responsibilities include designing and validating GNC algorithms, performing Monte Carlo analyses, and integrating MATLAB with SIMULINK and STK. Collaboration with engineers and HITL testing are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in relevant technical field.
• 0–2 years of engineering experience, including academic projects or internships.
• Foundational knowledge in statics, dynamics, control systems and orbital mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and implement GNC algorithms including Kalman filtering.
• Support GNC mode transition analysis and performance evaluations.
• Perform Monte Carlo simulations to quantify system performance.
• Develop MATLAB scripts/models; integrate with SIMULINK and STK.
• Analyze data from IMUs and GPS; coordinate with team to integrate GNC software; conduct HITL simulations.
• Document results and communicate findings to the team; estimate workloads with leads.
