Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center seeks a Graduate Medical Education Program Coordinator II to join the Surgery Education team. The role requires coordinating GME programs, ensuring accreditation compliance, and supporting residency and fellowship activities with a strong emphasis on organization and confidentiality.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of GME program experience, familiarity with ACGME/LCME standards, and the ability to manage recruitment, onboarding, and regulatory reporting.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, or related field; four years of administrative experience or 60 semester hours of college credit may substitute.
  • At least 2 years of direct experience with a medical education program and knowledge of ACGME or LCME accreditation requirements.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • TAGME certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the GME program, including the development and implementation of innovative educational strategies.
  • Support daily operations and activities of the GME residency/fellowship program(s).
  • Facilitate resident recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes, including visa requirements, licensure, and credentialing in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to residents/fellows and junior program coordinators and other administrative staff on GME policies and procedures.
  • Lead program compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to ACGME requirements, institutional policies, and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee program evaluation, including residents, faculty, and program evaluations, ensuring timely completion and analysis of data.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of all required reports to the ACGME and other regulatory bodies.
  • Lead development and implementation of program quality improvement initiatives and participate in national/regional GME conferences.
  • Collaborate with program leadership on accreditation activities, including site visits and self-studies.
  • Develop and maintain all program procedures in line with standards.
  • Act as primary liaison with the Program Director, providing regular updates and resolving challenges.
  • Mentor junior coordinators and staff as assigned.
  • Represent the program at meetings and conferences locally, state-wide, and nationally.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including faculty, residents, staff, and external agencies.
  • Oversee program budget management, including monitoring expenditures and ensuring regulatory compliance.
