Job summary

NBCUniversal seeks a technically strong Architect to design next-generation playback systems for millions of users worldwide. You will define player framework API boundaries, optimize device/network utilization, deliver world-class playback experiences, and work with cross-functional teams and third-party integrations.

You will focus on scalable video playback and collaborate with multiple platforms to ensure reliable streaming quality across the globe.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in video player architecture or 4+ years in video player development.
• Hands-on experience implementing a major media playback framework such as MSE/AVFoundation/Video node.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical and business audiences.
• Understands needs of business, product, and technology and applies to architecture design.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, resilient, high-performance video player workflows across Linear Channels, Live Events, and VOD playback.
• Create and maintain workstream designs, diagrams, and interface contracts for cross-team alignment.
• Partner with engineers to validate designs via prototypes, tests, and rollout plans.
• Collaborate with engineering to translate design into implementable plans and acceptance criteria.
