NBCUniversal's Media Group is seeking a Software Engineer to join the VOD Engineering team, building and operating large-scale media processing systems for ingestion, processing, and delivery of video content.

This hybrid role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and performance, with opportunities to apply computer vision, ML workloads, and modern tooling to power NBCU's streaming platforms including Peacock.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building, operating, and improving media pipelines at scale.
• Experience designing, deploying, and evolving distributed systems in production.
• Fluency in Python, plus proficiency in Go, C++, and/or Rust.
• Experience with performance optimization, observability, and reliability engineering for large-scale platforms.
• Experience working with Unix-based environments, source control, and production software development workflows.
• Ownership mindset, with the ability to identify problems, drive solutions, and turn business needs into scalable technical systems.
• Comfort working in agent-assisted development workflows, using AI tools to accelerate implementation, iterate on solutions, and produce production-quality pull requests.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and continuously improve scalable media pipelines for processing, transforming, and delivering large-volume media content.
• Implement and productionize core algorithms for media analysis, computer vision, or machine learning workloads where they can materially improve the platform.
• Build distributed systems and services that raise the bar on reliability, performance, observability, and operational scale.
• Partner across engineering and product to identify problems and opportunities early, then turn them into technical design, milestones, and execution plans.
• Bring a builder’s mindset to day-to-day engineering, using strong judgment, modern tooling, and pragmatic execution to move systems forward.
