Job summary

Interra International is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Operations team. You’ll review each export transaction, determine the required documentation and regulatory treatment, and keep shipments moving without delay or legal exposure.

You will prepare and issue commercial documents, handle AES and CERS filings, verify bills of lading and health certificates, and advise Sales, Logistics, Purchasing and Credit on documentation and risk.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in transportation, international business, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent trade compliance knowledge.
• Fluent English and Spanish, including professional reading and writing in Spanish.
• Working knowledge of export documentation and trade compliance principles.
• Ideally 1+ year of import/export compliance experience and familiarity with AES and CERS filing.
• Sound judgment and the confidence to resolve routine issues and ask for help on the complex ones.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue commercial documents, and decide when and how to release originals based on payment and trade terms
• Handle filings with U.S. Customs (AES) and Canada Customs (CERS)
• Check negotiable bills of lading, health certificates, and other certifications for accuracy
• Spot compliance and delivery issues, and work out how to resolve them
• Advise our Sales, Logistics, Purchasing, and Credit teams on documentation and risk
• Keep track of how changing trade regulations affect how we work
