Job summary

nVent is seeking a Global Trade Compliance Director & Counsel to lead the worldwide trade compliance program, aligning with Ethics and Compliance leadership and business priorities. You will provide strategic legal guidance, translate complex regulations into scalable controls, and oversee a global team across multiple US locations.

The role requires a JD, active law license, 8+ years of experience, and deep knowledge of CBP, BIS, OFAC, and related regimes.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
• 8+ years of international trade compliance experience in a global organization.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, engineering, or complex supply-chain operations and leading a global team.

Responsibilities

• Lead global trade compliance strategy, governance, risk assessments, policies, procedures, controls, and continuous improvement.
• Provide legal guidance translating laws into practical, standardized business processes and controls.
• Assess regulatory developments on imports/exports, sanctions, and related areas across regions and implement changes.
• Lead and resource a high-performing global trade compliance team with cross-functional alignment.
• Embed trade compliance requirements into business processes and systems.
• Oversee risk-based training and communications to increase awareness and governance.
• Direct due diligence for acquisitions, divestitures, and new markets or products.
• Manage government inquiries, audits, investigations, and remediation actions.
