HMH in Houston is seeking a Global Supply Chain Materials Intern to gain hands-on experience in data analysis, inventory analytics, and strategic stocking within a global supply chain. You will work with ERP data, develop reports and dashboards, and support cost and efficiency improvements.

The intern will learn to apply AI tools, collaborate across procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and operations, and contribute to standardizing materials practices.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program.
  • Majors in Supply Chain and Engineering preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support inventory analysis and planning across global locations.
  • Collect, validate, and organize data from ERP and supply chain tools.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material availability and working capital.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and operations.
  • Document processes and contribute to standardization of global practices.

It is an ideal opportunity for those looking to build a strong foundation in supply chain management and data-driven decision making.The Intern will be responsible for:Support analysis of inventory levels, material demand, shortages, excess stock, and slow-moving materials using AI and traditional analytical methods.Assist with materials planning and inventory optimization initiatives across global locations.Collect, validate, and organize data from ERP systems and other supply chain tools.Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance indicators.Help identify opportunities to improve material availability, inventory accuracy, and working capital.Support cross-functional projects involving procurement, manufacturing, logistics, engineering, and operations.Document processes and contribute to the standardization of global materials practices.Prepare and present data-driven findings and recommendations to support global materials initiativesSupport the development and enhancement of operational analytics tools and processes for ongoing supply chain improvementThe Intern also will learn about and deliver the following:Data Analysis: Learn to collect, organize, and analyze supply chain data using AI tools and traditional analytical methods.Global Strategic Materials: Understand how organizations assess global demand patterns and develop strategies to align supplyInventory Management: Gain insight into assessing inventory levels/projections and how that impacts free cash flow for the business.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with teams across manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and operations to solve complex challenges.Tool Development: Learn how to use and contribute to operational tools leveraging coding, automation, and AI solutions.Process Improvement: Participate in projects that drive efficiency and value across the supply chain.Requirements/Qualifications:Must be currently enrolled at the time internship commences and working toward completion of Bachelor or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college with Supply Chain and Engineering majors preferred.Minimum GPA of 3.0.Good interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multiple functions.Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project and subsystem.Familiarity with Microsoft office products, i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication.Strong work ethic and attention to detail.Other duties as assigned.Additional InformationMust be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.No relocation assistance provided.Internship is 12 weeks, May 24 - August 13, 2027LocationHouston, TX**This position is not open to visa sponsorship**
