HMH invites applications for an Engineering Intern position in Houston, TX. The role supports the engineering team with calculations, drawings, design reviews, lab tests, regression analysis, and automation, while gaining exposure to ASME pressure vessel design and real-life testing.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program with a minimum GPA of 3.0, have strong communication and analytical skills, and can work independently or in teams.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering degree with GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Proficient with MS Office: Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Create pressure vessel calculations using ASME codes.
  • Develop drawings, BOMs and design reviews for tasks.
  • Coordinate with engineering labs to schedule and run tests.
  • Create templates and run regression analyses to improve predictability in shear pressures.
  • Assist in automating tests with the engineering lab.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position will support the engineering team with activities such as calculations, drawings, design reviews, conducting lab tests, regression analysis, and automation.

The Intern will be responsible for: Create pressure vessel calculations using ASME codes. Develop drawings, BOMs and design reviews for particular tasks. Work with the engineering labs to schedule and run tests. Create templates, run regression analysis to develop predictability in shear pressures. Work with engineering lab to automate tests. Other duties as assigned.

The Intern also will learn about the following: Design of pressure vessels using ASME codes. Real life testing on equipment. Automation.

Skills/Requirements Currently enrolled and working toward completion of Bachelor or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college with Mechanical Engineering majors preferred. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Good interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multiple functions to achieve desired results. Ability to work independently or within a larger team as required by the project and subsystem. Familiarity with Microsoft office products, i.e., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication. Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Additional Information Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status. No relocation assistance provided. Internship is 12 weeks, May 24 - August 13, 2027 Location Houston, Texas -JFK **This position is not open to visa sponsorship**
