Job summary

Teledyne FLIR Defense in the United States is seeking a Strategic Sourcing / Commodity Manager to define enterprise-wide sourcing strategies across critical commodities and spend categories. The role provides end-to-end ownership of category performance, partnering with Engineering, Operations, QA, Finance, and leadership.

You will lead negotiations, build supplier ecosystems, drive cost-reduction initiatives, and ensure compliance in a regulated manufacturing environment while shaping long-term

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management
• Demonstrated experience leading supplier negotiations, supplier agreements and sourcing initiatives
• Experience in a manufacturing and/or regulated environment
• Strong financial acumen, analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to travel up to 25–50% depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Define and lead enterprise-wide sourcing strategies across critical commodities
• Develop multi-year category plans aligned with business objectives
• Establish dual-source and risk-mitigation strategies for materials
• Build executive-level supplier relationships, including strategic partnerships
• Lead RFQs, RFPs, supplier selections, and sourcing decisions
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and long-term agreements
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Program Management
• Monitor market conditions and adjust sourcing strategies accordingly
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, export controls, and government regulations
• Support audits and drive cost-reduction initiatives
