IDC seeks a Senior Research Director to lead its SMB coverage, shaping how the industry understands technology adoption by small and mid-sized businesses. This high-visibility role blends primary research, competitive analysis, and direct client engagement to translate findings into strategic guidance for vendors.

You will own IDC's SMB thought leadership, represent the firm at events and on social platforms, and drive revenue through syndicated subscriptions and custom consulting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; MBA a plus.
• 10+ years of market research experience in analytics or technology firms.
• Diverse background across AI, enterprise apps, infrastructure, telecom.
• Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
• Strong commitment to client support/success and growth of the SMB program.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% and collaborate with IDC sales.

Responsibilities

• Develop diverse research deliverables supporting the SMB program.
• Serve as a thought leader on the SMB market with clients, prospects, and vendors.
• Support syndicated research and custom projects across publishing, forecasting, and thought leadership.
• Drive business development to grow subscriptions and custom consulting.
• Manage the SMB program budget, bookings, and revenue targets.
• Apply sound data collection and analysis practices with primary/secondary sources.
• Translate data into client insights and actionable recommendations.
