Job summary

SoFi is seeking to appoint a Principal Advisor to lead the Global Sanctions Compliance function across all lines of business and jurisdictions. The role requires senior experience in government and Tier-1 financial institutions, with a focus on OFAC and global sanctions frameworks.

You will advise compliance, product teams, and engineering, driving policy development, risk governance, and rapid response to regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in a senior policy, enforcement, licensing, or compliance role directly within OFAC.
• 10-15+ years of experience in sanctions, including crypto and global sanctions compliance.
• Comprehensive understanding of BaaS products including payment processing, card issuance, credit and lending.
• Ability to lead the development and enhancement of sanctions policies, risk appetites, and governance.
• Provide advisory support to Compliance and Risk Leadership on high-risk transactions and expansions.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levels and lines of business.
• Demonstrated strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of sanctions compliance across international jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the Sanctions Program Leader and SME for the SoFi Enterprise.
• Advise Compliance, product managers, engineers, and business units on sanctions issues.
• Support the AML Governance team with annual sanctions risk assessment.
• Develop and review sanctions policies, procedures, and controls across product lifecycles.
• Ensure policies are implemented and aligned with regulatory requirements and business goals.
• Partner with compliance, business, and engineering teams to address sanctions risks.
• Monitor regulatory developments and industry best practices.
• Assist in regulatory exams, audits, and third-party risk reviews.
