Munich Reinsurance America, Inc is seeking a Head of GSI Property Underwriting to lead strategy and risk management for the global specialty property portfolio. This senior role requires steering underwriting standards across local BUs and providing leadership on complex risk decisions.

The position demands 10+ years in Property Underwriting, strong leadership and communication, and willingness to travel up to 45%.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Insurance Underwriting practices and procedures.
• Minimum of 10 years of Property Underwriting of primary business.
• Experience underwriting MGA/Program business.
• Experience in US admitted and E&S markets, personal as well as commercial lines.
• BS/ BA, advanced degree a plus.
• CPCU, ARe designations preferred.
• Ability to provide clear underwriting intent as it relates to the development of new products.
• Ability to explain complex insurance and reinsurance concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong communications, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
• Willingness to travel (up to 35% - 45%).

Responsibilities

• Set the overall GSI Property Underwriting strategy, guidelines and risk management approaches.
• Oversee GSI underwriting strategies and guidelines through the GSI Underwriting teams.
• Coordinate responses to industry trends affecting the GSI portfolio.
• Implement Global Property UW strategies and Global UW guidelines where applicable.
• Provide expert handling of referrals outside delegated authority and support BU decisions.
• Lead Property Underwriting Roundtable and contribute to cross-platform initiatives.
• Ensure measurable standards for UW excellence and risk controls.
• Coordinate budget requests and portfolio monitoring for profitability.
