Job summary

Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is seeking a Head of GSI Property Underwriting to lead the global property underwriting strategy within Global Specialty Insurance. You will provide portfolio level risk views across local underwriting teams and help drive long-term profitability of the Property portfolio.

The role requires deep underwriting expertise, MGA/Program experience, and US market knowledge, with travel up to 35–45%.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of insurance underwriting practices and procedures.
• Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data for decisions.
• Minimum of 10 years of Property Underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting MGA/Program business.
• Experience in US admitted and E&S markets, personal and commercial lines.
• BS/BA; advanced degree a plus.
• CPCU or ARe designations preferred.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 35-45%.

Responsibilities

• Set the overall GSI Property Underwriting strategy and risk guidelines.
• Oversee GSI underwriting strategies and guidelines.
• Coordinate responses to industry trends affecting portfolio results.
• Implement Global Property UW strategies and guidelines.
• Lead referrals for risks outside delegated authority.
• Lead Property Underwriting Roundtable and training initiatives.
• Ensure measurable UW standards and KPIs.
• Coordinate budget requests and portfolio monitoring.
