Job summary

Munich Re America Services (MRAS) is seeking a Head of GSI Property Underwriting to lead the portfolio strategy for global primary insurance Property risks. This role serves as a second line of defense, ensuring underwriting quality across local BUs and supporting long-term profitability.

You will coordinate with BU Underwriting, Reserving, Pricing and Claims to drive consistent risk views and implement global UW guidelines, while overseeing referrals and training initiatives within GSI.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of Insurance Underwriting practices and procedures.
• Minimum of 10 years of Property Underwriting of primary business.
• Experience underwriting MGA/Program business.
• Experience in US admitted and E&S markets, personal and commercial lines.
• CPCU, ARe designations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set the overall GSI Property Underwriting strategy, guidelines and risk management approaches.
• Oversee GSI underwriting strategies and guidelines through GSI Underwriting teams.
• Respond to industry trends and coordinate consistent underwriting response.
• Implement Global Property UW strategies and Global UW guidelines.
• Provide expert handling of referrals and support BU decisions through GURC process.
• Lead Property Underwriting Roundtable and coordinate training initiatives.
• Ensure measurable standards for underwriting excellence and risk controls.
• Coordinate budget requests and align with market conditions.
• Conduct regional portfolio monitoring for profitability improvements.
• Develop quantitative analytics and pricing methodologies for Property segments.
• Lead UW audits/reviews in line with risk-based plan.
• Ensure guidance from CU Munich on Property lines is understood.
