Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment seeks a Senior Director, Legal - Global Privacy & Data Counsel to lead the privacy program across the company. You will design policies, oversee PIAs and incident response, and ensure compliance with GDPR/CCPA while collaborating with product teams and the ESG group.

Hybrid role based in San Mateo, CA or London, with relocation support and senior leadership responsibilities guiding privacy governance globally.

Qualifications

• Juris doctor degree; bachelor or advanced degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 20+ years of legal experience and 10+ years proven experience in a senior privacy leadership role, preferably as CPO/CPO within a data-driven tech company.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA and regional frameworks; APAC experience is a strong plus.
• Ability to design and implement comprehensive privacy programs aligned with laws and data use requirements.
• Experience building an incident response process with CISO collaboration; privacy incidents experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels.
• Privacy certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Privacy Team across legal, operations, compliance and data governance.
• Develop, implement and evolve a robust privacy program tailored to SIE’s data-driven business.
• Stay updated on global privacy laws and ensure policies remain compliant.
• Advocate privacy-by-design in product development and with product leaders and ESG team.
• Create, review and disseminate privacy policies, notices and consents across the org and to customers.
• Conduct privacy training programs to promote a privacy-aware culture.
• Develop vendor privacy assessment processes and DPIAs as needed.
• Oversee PIAs and manage privacy risk with incident response coordination.
• Provide reports to executives and board; serve as privacy liaison with regulators and customers.
