Job summary

Sony Interactive Entertainment in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Senior Director, Global Privacy & Data Counsel to spearhead the privacy program across the company. You will craft policies, ensure compliance with international data protection laws, and collaborate with product, legal, and security teams worldwide.

The ideal candidate holds a JD and 20+ years in legal roles, with 10+ years in senior privacy leadership in a data-driven tech environment.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree required.
10+ years in a senior privacy leadership role preferred.
Deep knowledge of global privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA); APAC knowledge a plus.
Experience designing and leading enterprise privacy programs.
Experience building incident response with CISO partnerships.
Privacy certifications (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead the Privacy Team across legal, operations and data governance.
Develop and evolve a global privacy program aligned with laws and business needs.
Ensure regulatory compliance across GDPR, CCPA and regional laws.
Advocate privacy-by-design in product and technology development.
Create, review and disseminate privacy notices, policies and PIAs.
Oversee training to promote a privacy-aware culture.
Manage third-party privacy risk and data processing agreements.
Coordinate incident response for privacy breaches and regulator inquiries.
Report program status to executives and the board.
