Qualifications

• 18+ years of progressive experience as product counsel in a tech company
• J.D. or L.L.M. from a top law school; U.S. bar admission; CA in-house status possible
• Experience counseling product development and cross‑functional teams (design, engineering, product management)
• Experience leading the formulation of legal advice across global markets
• Experience leading and managing teams of legal professionals
• Expertise in consumer protection laws, FTC/DPA actions, online accounts, e‑commerce, IP, privacy, data security, social media, FCC, hardware issues

Responsibilities

• Lead the Product Counsel function and manage a team of legal professionals
• Advise product, engineering, security, privacy, and legal stakeholders through the development cycle
• Stay current on U.S. and international laws impacting PlayStation products
• Formulate global legal advice with Europe and Asia
• Explain complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders
• Provide pragmatic day-to-day and strategic advice to minimize risk while enabling business goals
• Engage with technology and consumer interfaces across platforms
• Draft clear public and client-facing communications
• Bring transactional law experience to bear in cross-functional initiatives
• Manage internal projects and drive cross-functional collaboration to completion
