Job summary

Verkada seeks a privacy and AI governance leader to build global privacy and AI programs from the ground up. You will report to the Chief Privacy Officer and collaborate with key stakeholders across privacy, security, and product to shape direction and strategic vision.

We are committed to a thriving in-office culture. This role requires on-site presence at our San Mateo, CA office, with responsibilities spanning governance, product counseling, and regulatory engagement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of privacy experience; ideally 4+ years in-house counsel at a B2B technology company.
• Expertise in data privacy, biometrics, AI/ML regulations; ability to spot emerging trends.
• Experience advising multinational, complex, fast-growing global companies with hardware and software products.
• Experience advising on global policy matters, regulatory developments, and policy advocacy options.
• Strong communication skills bridging technical and non-technical partners.
• Willing to commute 5 days in office.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert on global privacy laws and regulations; monitor developments affecting Verkada products.
• Develop the company’s Privacy program including policies and procedures for ongoing compliance.
• Lead the company’s AI framework and governance program and SDLC implementation support.
• Provide privacy legal advice to Product and Engineering teams from ideation through launch.
• Develop and maintain form agreements; advise Commercial Legal on transactions involving privacy concerns.
• Oversee auditing for compliance and global harmonization.
• Advise on privacy incidents and respond to regulatory inquiries.
• Promote data privacy and security across Verkada internally and externally.
