Job summary

Solutus Legal Search is assisting a publicly traded digital health company in hiring a Senior Privacy & AI Counsel, based in San Francisco, CA. The attorney will partner with Product, R&D, Hardware, Marketing, and Clinical teams to embed privacy governance into product development and operations.

Ideal candidate has 6–8 years of privacy/data protection experience, a J.D., active U.S. bar, and deep knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA, with AI governance exposure and strong cross-functional skills.

Qualifications

• Approximately 6–8 years of legal experience focusing on privacy, data protection, and related regulatory matters.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. and international privacy laws incl. HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain privacy and AI governance policies with Legal and Compliance teams.
• Advise cross-functional stakeholders on privacy, data protection, and AI-related regulatory risks.
• Lead privacy and data protection impact assessments and guide risk mitigation.
• Support incident response, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations on privacy and data security.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with privacy implications (data sharing, BAAs).
• Partner with product/commercial teams to align privacy/AI initiatives with regulatory obligations.
