Job summary

Genentech in South San Francisco seeks a detail-oriented professional to manage the end-to-end Purchase Order lifecycle, driving efficiency in financial operations. You will influence spend forecasting and process optimization while collaborating across global teams and affiliates.

You will record cost centers and internal codes, support variable cost spend decisions, and champion innovative workflows in a fast-paced contracting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with the ability to guide stakeholders through process enhancements.
• Strong analytical mindset to interpret operational data, KPIs, and derive actionable conclusions.
• Experience in process development, including workflow maps and guidance documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end PO lifecycle from contract execution to invoice processing and financial tracking.
• Record cost centers, WBS, and internal codes to ensure accurate spend and accrual totals.
• Support variable cost spend management with clear data points for decisions.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and streamlined workflows.
• Collaborate asynchronously across global research, procurement, shared services, and finance teams.
• Partner with international affiliates to enhance inter-company billing and PO workflows.
• Advise leadership on future spend forecasting based on contracts and metrics.
• Contribute to departmental objectives and strategic goals by challenging practices.
