Job summary

Duolingo in the United States is hiring a People Relations Business Partner to lead employee relations, leaves of absence, and workplace accommodations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to Duos, managers, and People Business Partners, bringing sound judgment and consistency to complex employee matters.

You’ll manage employee relations cases from intake through resolution, conduct investigations, advise managers on policy interpretation, and build scalable practices that improve the employee

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in employee relations or related HR areas.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations and resolving sensitive matters.
• Strong knowledge of leaves of absence and accommodations (ADA, FMLA).
• Ability to translate policies and legal requirements into practical guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clear case documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead employee relations cases from intake through resolution.
• Conduct fair, thorough workplace investigations and document findings.
• Advise managers and PBPs on complex employee situations and policy interpretations.
• Develop tools and standards for consistent case management and practices.
• Partner with Legal and other teams to address high-risk matters.
