Job summary

Doppel is seeking a hands-on Payroll Accounting Manager to own U.S. and global payroll operations. You will ensure accurate processing, journal entries, and tax compliance while partnering across Accounting, People Ops, Legal, and FP&A in a fast-moving startup

This role drives scalable payroll processes, supports international payroll setup, and reports to enable precise financial close and robust internal controls.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years of progressive payroll experience, including global and U.S. payroll operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll regulations, payroll taxes, and multi-state payroll compliance.
• Experience with payroll journal entries and reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end close, payroll reporting, and audits.
• Ability to coordinate across multiple functions without direct authority.
• Experience with external payroll providers.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Rippling, and DEEL; ability to learn new systems.

Responsibilities

• Own accurate and timely U.S. and global payroll processing for employees and contractors.
• Review payroll-impacting items such as hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, and deductions.
• Oversee travel and expense reimbursements and update expense policies.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and support month-end close; reconcile payroll accounts.
• Partner with People Ops, Legal, FP&A, AP and external providers to ensure accurate payroll data.
• Support payroll tax compliance, year-end reporting, and audits.
• Assist with international payroll setup as the company expands.
• Improve payroll processes and controls to scale with the business.
