Job summary

LaunchDarkly is seeking a Senior Manager, Global Payroll to lead and scale its global payroll operations. This role partners with Accounting, Finance, People, Legal, IT and external providers to ensure accurate, timely, compliant payroll across all countries where LaunchDarkly operates.

You will own the payroll operating model, drive improvements, and manage relationships with providers. Expect heavy cross-functional collaboration and governance responsibilities in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leading global payroll in a multi-entity setup.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, business or related field; CPP preferred.
  • Experience managing US and international payroll across multiple countries, pay frequencies, payroll providers, EOR partners and local specialists.
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll tax, statutory requirements, year-end reporting, wage and hour considerations, benefits deductions, equity, commissions and payroll accounting.
  • Experience with payroll solutions (e.g. ADP) and leading system implementations, migrations, integrations, or major enhancements.
  • Proven ability to design and improve payroll controls, reconciliations, audit processes, documentation and SOPs.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to investigate variances and provide clear recommendations.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally across Finance, Accounting, People, Legal, IT, Total Rewards and leadership.
  • Sound judgment and clear communication when handling sensitive employee information and time-critical issues.
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with detailed execution and ownership across regions/time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end global payroll operating model, including calendars, SOPs, data inputs, approvals, processing, funding, reconciliations and issue resolution.
  • Lead US and international payroll operations across multiple countries, entities, pay frequencies and local requirements.
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers, EOR partners, and local payroll specialists; ensure service quality and compliance.
  • Establish payroll controls, review procedures, and audit-ready documentation for all payroll data, taxes, deductions, benefits, equity and changes.
  • Partner with People Operations and Total Rewards to ensure lifecycle events flow accurately into payroll.
  • Collaborate with Accounting on reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and month-end close.
  • Coordinate with Stock Administration to reflect equity transactions and related compensation in payroll.
  • Work with Legal and external advisors on payroll taxes, regulatory requirements and year-end reporting.
  • Lead payroll audits and year-end processes (W-2s, filings, reporting).
  • Identify automation opportunities to improve efficiency, data quality and reporting.
