Job summary

Mercor is seeking a high-execution payroll leader to own end-to-end payroll delivery and scale our operational infrastructure. You will manage payroll cycles, vendor governance, GL reconciliations, and drive automation initiatives while integrating acquired talent into Mercor's payroll architecture.

You will collaborate with Accounting, People Ops, Finance Systems, Legal, and international partners to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, especially in high-growth tech startups.
• Ownership of US payroll and ability to scale to other countries via local teams or providers.
• Experience with enterprise HRIS/ payroll platforms, data validation, reporting, testing, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Run employee payroll cycles across assigned countries, coordinating inputs, validations, approvals, funding deadlines, and provider processing to ensure timely payments.
• Review hires, departures, compensation changes, bonuses, benefits, deductions, and equity inputs with owners; investigate exceptions.
• Reconcile payroll outputs with inputs and accounting records; collaborate on journals, accruals, and month-end close.
• Maintain country calendars and filing/remittance evidence; resolve issues with providers and advisers.
• Lead payroll workstreams for acquisitions and new-country launches, including data mapping and cutover planning.
• Automate checks and reporting with approved tools, ensuring data protection and proper reviews.
