Job summary

Equinix is seeking a Director, Onsite Power Generation to lead the global enterprise strategy for onsite and co-sited power across the data center portfolio. You will shape how onsite power accelerates capacity deployment, resiliency, and sustainability while collaborating with Finance, Legal, Operations, and Design teams.

The role requires 12+ years in data center energy and strong experience with complex energy transactions, strategy, and governance.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience in data center energy, mission-critical infrastructure, distributed generation, or related field.
• Experience building and driving an enterprise strategy, operating model, or center-of-excellence across regions.
• Strong understanding of hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale data center development and operations.
• Fluency across onsite generation, behind-the-meter power, fuel cells, gas turbines, engines, batteries, and interconnection.
• Experience negotiating complex energy or infrastructure transactions (PPAs, energy-as-a-service, tolling, leases, etc.).
• Proven ability to influence leaders without direct authority and establish repeatable processes.
• Strong commercial judgment translating requirements into portfolio priorities and risk allocations.
• Executive communication skills to simplify complex issues and align on decisions and implementation paths.

Responsibilities

• Own and refine the global onsite power generation strategy across the portfolio.
• Develop and maintain a consistent OSPG playbook, including design principles and governance.
• Partner with regional teams to adapt strategy to local market and regulatory conditions.
• Establish a global pipeline and governance cadence for opportunities by capacity, schedule, and execution-readiness.
• Ensure OSPG solutions integrate with data center planning, utility capacity, and electrical topology.
• Standardize evaluation and contracting approaches for various energy technologies and arrangements.
• Lead strategic relationships with developers, IPPs, OEMs, utilities, and investors.
• Set standards for total cost of ownership analysis and risk allocation.
• Define roles and escalation paths across cross-functional teams.
• Advise senior leaders on portfolio choices, capital allocation, and market developments.
