Job summary

Addison Group is seeking a Logistics Specialist in Itasca, IL for a contract-to-hire role. You will manage import/export activities, coordinate freight, and ensure compliance with shipping regulations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will work with internal teams and external partners to optimize shipments, maintain records, and contribute to cost-control initiatives while onsite Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in logistics, international shipping, import/export operations, freight forwarding, or related supply chain function.
• Experience coordinating shipments with freight carriers, customs brokers, and transportation providers.
• Familiarity with customs paperwork, international shipping requirements, and import/export compliance procedures.
• Hazardous materials shipping knowledge preferred (IATA/IMDG/49 CFR).
• Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
• HS Diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Manage international shipments, including scheduling, rate quotes, tracking, customs clearance, and delivery coordination.
• Communicate with freight forwarders, brokers, carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to address delays.
• Prepare and maintain import/export records, customs forms, tariff information, and country-of-origin docs.
• Verify shipments meet applicable domestic and international regulations, including hazmat where applicable.
• Audit freight invoices, monitor charges, and compare costs against rates.
• Support carrier selection, contract evaluations, and annual bid processes.
• Maintain shipping procedures and training documentation for compliance and audits.
