Job summary

StaffBuffalo, LLC is seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Specialist in Amherst, NY to manage container imports, coordinate international freight, and work with overseas suppliers and customs brokers. This in-person role requires strong Excel and organizational skills in a fast-paced trading environment.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience handling imports, proficiency with Outlook/Excel/Teams, and an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Business or Accounting major preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience handling large imports with freight forwarders and customs brokers preferred.
• Strong Excel, Outlook and Teams skills.
• Experience with IBM i (AS400) preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written, phone, and in-person communication skills with professional business etiquette.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with proactive follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Manage container imports, including customs clearance, drayage, rate negotiations and cost approvals.
• Coordinate material movement with truckers, customs brokers, ports and warehouses.
• Collaborate with foreign suppliers and overseas freight forwarders to book freight and monitor timelines and documentation.
• Prepare and manage invoices, bills of lading, certificates and other shipping documents.
• Ensure shipments comply with customs and handling, labeling, and specs.
• Update the online system and write purchase contracts.
