Job summary

SOS USA is seeking an Interim Grant Writer to research grant opportunities, draft proposals, and raise funds for international programs. You will identify new funding opportunities, guide proposal development, and submit winning applications from a fully remote or Washington, DC office setup.

The role targets multi‑million, multi‑year foundation and corporate support, requiring strong writing, donor research, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, journalism, nonprofit management, or related field.
• 3–5 years of grant writing, prospect research, and six- to seven-figure fundraising with foundations and corporations.
• Strong writing skills with storytelling, data analysis, and concise summaries.
• Experience with donor market tools like Instrumentl; willingness to research international markets.

Responsibilities

• Write and submit compelling grant proposals and letters of inquiry to win multi‑million grants.
• Research and apply for grants, LOIs, concept notes, and donor outreach.
• Manage funder search platforms and update the prospect pipeline weekly.
• Collaborate across teams to gather inputs for proposals and meet deadlines.
• Utilize AI as a productivity multiplier to streamline research and drafting.
• Provide systems improvement ideas and support full‑time November 2026 – March 2027.
