Job summary

Plasser American Corp. in Danbury, CT seeks a Field Service Technician to install, calibrate, and repair ultrasonic testing and track geometry systems at customer sites worldwide.

This role requires frequent travel (about 75%), strong troubleshooting, and ability to work independently in demanding field environments, including nights and weekends when needed.

You will train customers, document activities, and support with equipment testing at our New Milford facility.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of field service experience
• Strong understanding of ultrasonic testing principles and/or track geometry systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
• Hands-on troubleshooting skills with electronic and mechanical systems
• Proficiency with computers, software diagnostics, and data acquisition systems
• Valid driver's license and passport (or ability to obtain one)

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and troubleshoot ultrasonic testing and track geometry measurement systems at customer locations worldwide.
• Perform preventive maintenance, system calibration, and hardware and software upgrades.
• Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and software issues in the field and at the New Milford facility.
• Support field testing operations, including data acquisition and system validation
• Train customers and operators on proper system use and basic maintenance
• Document service activities, findings, and recommendations in detailed reports
• Coordinate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex issues
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures at all times
