Plasser American Corp in Chesapeake, VA is seeking an Ultrasonic Testing Operator to perform UT inspections on railroad components and support field operations. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork with the Chief Operator and Field Manager. The position requires extended travel across North America, with a valid Class A/B CDL and Air Brake endorsement.

Excellent communication, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills are essential. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent safety record.
• Knowledge in computer programs, electrical and mechanical is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license Class A or B with Air Brake endorsement.
• Must continuously meet company & DOT Driving Standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Minimum of a High school diploma or GED. Mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting knowledge preferred.
• Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, Concur, and more.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain UT testing equipment with emphasis on safety and quality.
• Mark rail defects according to set standards.
• Perform pre- and post-trip maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Complete required paperwork (elog, maintenance reports, trip reports, fuel reports).
• Adhere to DOT hours-of-service regulations and safety procedures.
• Coach and train new Operators as needed.
