Job summary

Ingevity is seeking a strategic Category Manager for Energy, MRO, and related spend categories. You will lead global sourcing, develop category strategies, and partner with Operations, Engineering, Sustainability, and Legal to optimize total cost of ownership and supply continuity.

The role requires 5+ years in strategic sourcing and category management, with experience in energy and MRO categories, strong negotiation skills, and fluency in data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business or equivalent.
• 5+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or related experience.
• 2+ years managing Energy, MRO, Facilities, Utilities, or Industrial Services categories.
• Experience negotiating multi-million-dollar contracts.
• Experience with SAP, Ariba, Coupa or other Source-to-Pay platforms.
• Strong analytics with spend analytics tools and procurement systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% globally.
• Commitment to safety, integrity, compliance, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage global spend categories within Energy and MRO.
• Lead cross-functional sourcing initiatives to deliver cost savings, risk mitigation, and sustainability outcomes.
• Develop data-driven sourcing strategies from market intelligence and internal demand.
• Prepare business cases and recommendations for senior leadership.
• Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes and category performance.
• Develop and execute energy category strategies for electricity, natural gas, renewables, and related services.
• Monitor energy markets and sustainability trends to identify cost-optimization opportunities.
• Lead negotiations for energy supply agreements, PPAs, and related services.
• Evaluate energy data to reduce volatility and support long-term objectives.
• Lead global MRO category management for industrial supplies and equipment.
• Coordinate with Operations and Maintenance to ensure continuity of supply and standardization.
• Resolve supplier performance issues and drive supplier development.
• Establish supplier scorecards, KPIs, and governance processes.
• Conduct supplier reviews focused on performance, risk, sustainability, and cost.
• Drive supplier qualification, evaluation, and audits as needed.
• Manage full contract lifecycle from prequalification to closeout.
