Job summary

BeOne is seeking a Senior Director of Global Digital & Technology Systems Engineering to lead end-to-end systems engineering for externally developed platforms and data pipelines in a global biotech setting. You will shape HPC, containerized environments, and AI architectures while aligning R&D needs with enterprise IT standards.

The role requires deep pharma/biotech domain knowledge, strong leadership, and expertise in ML/GenAI patterns, observability, and secure data handling.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional experience in data, digital & information technology with direct oversight and experience in the Systems Engineering area in the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and/or Medical Device industries
• 7+ years of proven leadership experience at a senior level, directing a team of multi-skilled direct reports and associate-level team members
• Strong experience in ML/AI/genAI methods and technologies from a Systems Engineering angle
• Business relationship management acumen and demonstrable success as a change agent leading or contributing to significant transformational initiatives in organizations
• Strong experience with software lifecycle methodologies, 21CFR Part 11 compliance, and GxP computer systems validation (CSV), ICH guidelines
• Accomplished in building and development of people and teams, comfortable working with a broad cross section of people in direct and matrixed relationships
• Proficient in various project management disciplines (i.e., Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc.)
• Bachelor or above

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing GRDTS team dedicated to Systems Engineering
• Oversee engineering and deployment strategies for platforms and systems across on-prem, hybrid cloud, and SaaS environments
• Architect robust API layers and data buses to ensure data interoperability across the pipeline
• Implement observability, distributed tracing, and real-time telemetry for platform health and performance
• Manage HPC clusters and containerized environments for compute-heavy processing
• Govern data lakes and pipelines governing research data lifecycle
• Oversee software lifecycle, patch management, and automated deployments for long-term sustainability
• Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and multi-agent AI patterns
• Drive change strategy for infrastructure overhauls and cloud migrations
• Collaborate with Global IT to enforce secure AI proxies and gateways
• Engage with stakeholders to sponsor continuous improvements
• Lead governance and risk mitigation in enterprise IT security and IP stewardship
• Deliver scalable AI/ML architecture patterns and blueprints
• Ensure alignment of R&D systems with enterprise standards
